ALLEGED Killer Grandma focuses on her looks as she faces her official court date, accused of co-conspiring to kill her former son-in-law.
On July 19, 2014, Dan Markel was found shot dead outside his home in Tallahassee, Florida.
Her son, Charlie was sentenced to life in prison without parole and still claims he is innocent.

According to court documents, Donna Adelson solicited her son and the hitmen to kill Daniel Markel.
“Jail calls from after Charles Adelson’s guilty verdict include multiple calls in which Donna Sue Adelson is telling Charles Adelson that she is getting things in order, creating trusts, and making sure her grandchildren are taken care of,” an affidavit showed.
Charlie Adelson contracted the hitmen to take out Markel while the professor was in the middle of a custody battle with his sister Wendi.
Markel was granted sole custody of the two preschool-aged children he shared with Wendi, before he was gunned down in his Tallahassee, Florida driveway.

Alongside Charlie and Donna Adelson, Charlie’s ex-girlfriend Katherine Magbanua, and the two alleged hitmen named Luis Rivera and Sigfredo Garcia were also charged in the case.
Now, Donna has been given a court date, with her trial set to begin on September 30, 2024.
Both Donna’s lawyer and the prosecution agreed to a September date, and in a virtual five-minute hearing, Circuit Judge Stephen Everett set the late September date.
Before the hearing began, Donna could be seen using the Zoom screen to adjust and preen her hair, fluffing her blonde bob style while staring down the camera.
During the hearing, it was established that no plea deal has been offered from either side and Donna has maintained a not guilty plea.
A case management hearing is set for July 22 where both attorneys, alongside the judge, will collaborate on setting up more administrative aspects of the trial.
Then, on September 12, Donna is set to appear in court for a docket hearing to attest to whether or not she is ready for the trial to begin; more accurately, her lawyer will determine her status.
Against typical practice, Donna’s lawyer is Daniel Rashbaum, the same attorney who represented her son in his trial.
Both Donna and her son have waived the conflict of interest presented by Rashbaum representing them both, allowing him to continue operating as their lawyer.
In a previous hearing, Donna was also warned by Judge Everett that Rashbaum could be called as a witness against her which would bar him from representing her.
“I do not know if the state would seek to call your attorney as a witness for any matter,” said Everett.
“However, you understand an attorney cannot be both advocate and witness in the same case?”

“I understand,” said Adelson.
Despite the barriers to being her representation, Rashbaum has publically maintained Donna’s innocence.
