DENVER (KDVR) — The University of Colorado football team, the Buffaloes, is set to play their annual spring game at Folsom Field in April.
Last year, the spring game sold out for the first time in program history. Despite a snowstorm, 47,277 CU fans braved the cold to catch an early look at the team and new coach Deion “Coach Prime” Sanders.
On Wednesday, Athletic Director Rick George and Deion Sanders announced that this year’s spring game will be part of Black and Gold Day on April 27.
What is happening at Black & Gold Day?
There will be plenty of entertainment at Black and Gold Day this year, according to the announcement.
A Field Day presented by Children’s Hospital of Colorado will offer inflatables and games for kids. as well as field day activities with student-athletes in other sports.
Who is playing?
The spring game has no opponent team, it is essentially a scrimmage between the CU Buffs offensive and defensive players.
The roster for the spring game will feature most of the 28 newcomers, including six out of high school and 22 through the transfer portal.
Of the high school class, four are four-star recruits and one is a five-star offensive lineman. Of the transfers, six were ranked as four-star transfers.
That gives CU 10 new four-star players and one new five-star player, which is the most ranked players of any class in CU history, according to the announcement.
Time, tickets and details
The team is expected to practice for a week beginning March 18, before having a week off for spring break and returning to the field April 1.
The exact time and television plans for the game on April 27 have yet to be announced, but CU said tickets will go on sale soon.
