WE ALL use our washing machines to get our clothes sparkling clean, but we often forget that our appliances sometimes need a clean themselves.
Luckily, a cleaning expert has revealed how to banish all bacteria and grime from your washing machine with one simple step.
Sarah Dempsey, Cleaning Expert from My Job Quote spoke to The Express about the best way to clean a washing machine seal which can harbour plenty of germs.
She explains that how you clean the seal will depend on how often you are using it but you can usually tell when it needs a scrub if it is visibly dirty or is starting to smell.
And when it comes to what product to use, you probably already have it in your cupboards.
Sarah explains: “The best way to clean your washing machine seal is with a mixture of washing-up liquid and warm water.
“You should begin by running a hot cycle with a cleaning product to clean the inside of the drum.”
While that should do the trick, if you want your drum really sparkling there are a few extra things you can do.
“You can spray the washing machine drum with white vinegar and wipe it all around the drum with a clean cloth,” Sarah says
“You can also pour distilled white vinegar into the detergent dispenser and run the washing machine on a cycle with hot water.”
