Mac shared an Instagram Reel in which she first wore a plain grey three-quarter-sleeve sweater and black leggings.

Looking drab and particularly unexcited in the form-fitting outfit, she revealed an important thing to ignore when dressing up.

“Why ‘slimming’ styles should never be a factor in getting dressed,” she wrote, deeming her current look to be slimming yet unstylish.

Then the stylist transitioned into an outfit that was “not slimming.”

Mac wore a green chunky cable-knit sweater tucked into shiny floral-print lounge pants. She looked much happier in this colorful, patterned, and loose-fitting outfit.

Then Mac showed another “slimming” outfit, which consisted of a black straight-cut leather blazer over a black crop top and off-black straight-leg jeans.

While this look wasn’t as boring as the first one, Mac didn’t look very comfortable in it.

But then she showed an alternative all-black look. While it wasn’t traditionally slimming, it better accentuated Mac’s midsize body shape.

Mac swapped the blazer for a boxy cropped denim jacket. She also changed into a pair of high-waisted jeans that had wider-cut legs.

For her last two looks, she first wore a boring black sleeveless sweater tucked into straight-cut brown trousers.

The pieces were unshapely and gave the effect that Mac had a very straight body shape since there was no cinching or definition.

Then Mac changed into her final stylish non-slimming outfit. She wore a green striped short-sleeve shirt tucked into lime green wide-leg trousers. The wide cut made Mac look more shapely.

“Choosing an outfit just because it’s ‘slimming’ is never the right way to build style!!” she doubled-down on her fashion advice.

Many people similarly preferred Mac’s non-slimming outfits, and one person pointed out how Mac actually looked slimmer in the non-slimming ones.

“All clothes that are flattering are all slimming! They look so dull most of the time plus you can only wear dark colors!” they wrote.
