KAMALA Harris positively declared her trip to Central American and Mexico a “success” even after she received plenty of backlash for avoiding a trip to the southern border and called it a “grand gesture” instead.
The vice president met with Mexican President Andrés Manuel López Obrador today, promising a complete overhaul of the migration crisis and saying the United States is “tackling it from the perspective that not only we must address the root causes of migration.”
“But we also must tackle the issues that are inherent in the situation at the border. And what we must do to strengthen legal pathways for people to enter the United States,” she continued.
When asked if she declared the trip a success, she responded in the affirmative.
“Yes I do. It is success in terms of a pathway that is about progress. We have been successful in making progress.”
