Texas Republican Rep. Michael Burgess will retire at the end of this term, he announced on Monday. And fellow Texan Pat Fallon won’t be running for reelection either.
“It is with a satisfied and grateful heart that I announce that I will not be seeking reelection to the United States of Representatives in 2024,” Burgess said in a statement.
Burgess originally came to Congress in 2003 and is a senior member of the House Energy and Commerce Committee.
The doctor’s retirement was first reported by Texas media, including the Dallas Morning News.
A House Republican who spoke to Fallon confirmed he is not running for reelection and filed for his old State Senate seat Monday.
Fallon, who has been in Congress since 2021, serves on the Armed Services and Oversight committees. His decision was first reported by the Texas Tribune.
