Northern California rocked by 5.4 magnitude earthquake as residents report buildings ‘swinging back and forth’

AN EARTHQUAKE with a magnitude of 5.4 has rocked Northern California.

The seismic event happened on Thursday afternoon near East Shore, California, but the shaking was felt more than 150 miles away in Sacramento.

The US Geological Survey tweeted that the earthquake happened at 4.19pm.

“My whole building was swinging back and forth, thought it was vertigo at first,” one Twitter user said.
