Northwestern University ‘under active shooter threat’ as reports of shots fired outside Wieboldt Hall, Chicago

POLICE have rushed to Northwestern University’s Chicago campus after receiving reports of shots fired.

University officials have confirmed to The U.S. Sun that the Chicago campus has been cleared and multiple assailants are in custody.

The scene was secured by 9:30 pm local time.

It is unclear if anyone has been injured or if police have a suspect.

More information is expected to come from Chicago police.

An alert was sent out to students and staff on Monday night about an active threat on the school’s Chicago campus.

“There is an active threat event on the Chicago campus. Run, hide, fight. Take proper shelter,” the campus alert read.

“Lock and/or barricade doors. Await further information.”

Shots were reportedly fired outside Wieboldt Hall, according to The Daily Northwestern.

Wieboldt Hall is part of Northwestern’s Kellogg School of Management.

The hall is located in Chicago’s Streeterville neighborhood, just north of the downtown area.

The U.S. Sun has reached out to Chicago police and Northwestern police for more information.

Northwestern’s main campus is located in Evanston, about 12 miles north of Wieboldt Hall.

The men’s basketball team played at home in Evanston on Monday night against Northern Illinois.

Northwestern won 89-67, improving their record to 5-1.
