Poland’s president believes Trump could end Ukraine war in a day: ‘Trump keeps his word’

Washington is openly skeptical of former President Donald Trump‘s claim he could end the RussiaUkraine war in 24 hours.

But the president of neighboring Poland isn’t.

Polish President Andrzej Duda was asked Wednesday during a trip to Rwanda about whether Mr. Trump’s claim was “realistic,” and he replied that Mr. Trump is a man of his word who always delivered on his promises.

“I can say from my personal experience as the president of the Polish Republic … What [Mr. Trump] promised to me was fulfilled,” Mr. Duda said, according to an account in Newsweek.

“Therefore, I can say that President Trump keeps his word and if he says something, he takes it seriously,” the Polish leader said.

Poland is one of Ukraine’s strongest supporters in NATO and has been at the forefront of military-assistance efforts. The two countries have centuries of common history and once co-hosted soccer’s European Championship final tournament. Each is also strongly anti-Russia.

Leaders of both Russia and Ukraine have both been asked about Mr. Trump’s claims and each responded with puzzlement about how and with denials of having been in contact with the former president, though Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy also said he had invited him to come to Kyiv, but was refused.
