An Uber spokesperson told the New York Times that the hack occurred through an employee’s Slack account.

The hacker sent a message via Slack to employees that read: “I announce I am a hacker and Uber has suffered a data breach,” according to the Times.

Sam Curry, a hacker and web security blogger, reported that Uber employees received an urgent email from IT urging them to stop using Slack immediately.

The Uber employee told Curry that “anytime I request a website, I am taken to a REDACTED page with a pornographic image and the message ‘F*** you wankers.’”

Uber employees reportedly don’t have access to Slack and other company tools at this time.
