What to know about Blake Shelton’s departure

After 23 seasons of The Voice, the longest-standing original coach Blake Shelton made the decision to walk away from the show.

Shelton said in an October 2022 Instagram announcement: “I’ve been wrestling with this for a while and I’ve decided that it’s time for me to step away from The Voice after next season.”

“It’s been a hell of a ride over these 12 years of chair turns and I want to thank everyone at The Voice from NBC, every producer, the writers, musicians, crew, and catering people, you are the best.

“I have to give a huge shout to the singers—the ‘Voices,’ who come on this stage season after season and amaze us with their talent, and a special thanks to those who chose me to be their coach.

“Lastly, it’s about y’all, the fans, who watch and support these artists, us coaches, and everyone at The Voice who are chasing our dreams. It would not happen without you!”

The Voice tragedies over the years, concluded

Nolan Neal competed on The Voice in 2016, with Adam Levine as his coach.

He was eventually eliminated from the reality singing competition.

Nolan went on to compete on America’s Got Talent in 2020, but was eliminated in the Judges’ Choice section of the quarterfinals.

His death was determined to be caused by “acute combined drug toxicity,” and ruled as an accident.
