DUSTIN POIRIER and Michael Chandler are closing in on a deal to fight at Madison Square Garden on November 12.
The pair of lightweights clashed while cageside in July, fuelling demand for a grudge match.
And according to Ariel Helwani, a deal for the two to fight at New York’s famed MSG on November 12 is close to being finalised.
UFC 281 is already booked for that date with no headliner yet confirmed.
Poirier, 33, has not fought since December when he lost in a lightweight title challenge to Charles Oliveira, 32.
He was in talks to face long-time rival Nate Diaz, 37, who is entering the final bout on his UFC deal.
But Diaz will instead fight rising welterweight star Khamzat Chimaev, 28, on September 10 at UFC 279.
Chandler, 35, meanwhile most recently knocked out Tony Ferguson, 38, with a brutal front kick.
It took his record in the UFC to 2-2 and right after the win he called out Conor McGregor.
But McGregor, 34, is still yet to return since breaking his leg in the first round of his trilogy bout against Poirier last July.
