WASHINGTON linebacker Alphonzo Tuputala’s recent fumble might end up haunting him for years.
The Huskies star dropped the ball before reaching the end zone in a premature touchdown celebration during the Week 11 matchup with the Utah Utes, taking a would-be pick-six off the board.
With Washington holding a 33-28 lead, Tuputala, 22, intercepted Utes quarterback Bryson Barnes’ pass to tight end Dallen Bentley late in the third quarter.
The Huskies linebacker then ran down the field along the sideline for a 76-yard return.
He blitzed past the entire Utes team, having an open path to the end zone.
But he was too quick to celebrate the score, dropping the ball before reaching the paydirt.

Incredibly, Utah suffered a safety on the very next play.
The Huskies had a field goal attempt blocked late in the fourth, gifting the Utes another chance to come back from behind.
But the drive ended in another interception by Barnes and Washington eventually secured a 35-28 win.
The Huskies remain unbeaten in the 2023 college football season with a 10-0 record while Utah slipped to 7-3 after the loss.
